Amazing collection of Choteau history including Criminal Book, separate little houses for grizzly exhibit, and a western artists studio. In the main building there's several exhibits of dinosaur bones, claws, agate, and the like. Outdoors there's a full size teepee which is much bigger than I thought. There's a couple of bear traps too! For a $2 admission charge, it's a treasure trove for viewing. Although it may look cheesy from the street, it is well worth a stop! There's also a small shop of 'made in Montana goods'. We enjoyed our time. The paleontology exhibit is surprisingly full, though it takes up little space. The exhibits about local history and personalities are fascinating. Several interesting artifacts - for example, the sheriff's record of arrests and investigations - illuminate life in Choteau a century ago. We spent nearly an hour looking through the exhibits - far longer than anticipated.
