Information |
185 - Darlingtonia Botanical Gardens. Lots of viewpoints and pullovers today to see the beach. 180 - Sea Lion Caves. We can check out the gift shop but do not need to pay to take the elevator down to see anything. 179 - Heceta Head Lighthouse - The views are gorgeous all along the 1/2 mile walk to the lighthouse. Be sure to park in the lot on the right side of the road just across the bridge. The one on the beach side of Hwy. 101 is small. 169 - Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest. Good parking lot for us. 166 - Devils Churn. Big parking lot for us. 162/164 - Beach access at Yachats State Park and Smelt Sands. We can park at both places good tidepooling areas. Low tide at 5pm. 160 - Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center. Good stop for some history. 151 - Seal Rock State Park -The views of sea, sand and rock were beautiful and there were lots of tide pools. See sea anemones, starfish, and other items. Brian Booth State Park - The beach on the West side is beautiful, uncrowded and easily accessible. The peaceful creek ebbs and flows with the ocean tides. Park is well maintained with many trees and native flora. Ona State Park - Across from Brian Booth. Ona Beach offers a different aspect to the Oregon Coast. Beaver Creek lazily winds itself to the ocean through dense, deep green coastal forest. The shore exposes polished rock formations. We found the most stunning purple starfish right on the sand. If we need anything we can go past the campground and into Newport. Lots of businesses there. |
