Information |
Rialto Beach is on the immediate north side of the Quileute River as it empties into the Pacific, with First Beach its counterpart on the south side. In many ways the two beaches are almost like bookends, as they both have enormous amounts of old growth bleached white driftwood and zillions of smooth, almost perfectly round, perfectly flat gray skipping stones They are alike, but also different, because Rialto has an almost ethereal, eerie look to it because of all of the whitewashed, bleached dead trees still standing upright right next to the beach like a platoon of ghostly figures, guarding all of the dead white, bleached trees fallen in piles on the beach. From the parking lot there are several paths you can take to zigzag your way through the fallen logs to the beach, or take the path with grating that gets you to the edge of the sand and flat pebbles.
