Before entering the Death Valley, take a short detour on Mount Whitney road, off Lone Pines and you'll find this interesting "Wild West" scenery where some movies were shot. Worth a detour.

We got the map from the motel office. We had a hard time figuring our where the road turnoff was. What we saw was a large area with very strange boulder formations. There are houses built in between and around some of the boulders. There is also a campground. You turn off the main road on the campground road. The campground is actually about half was around the circular drive. Worth a trip. It takes less than 30 minutes.
