Great visitor center with movies. We thought the Dam was great...then we went to the Red Canyon. Unbelievably beautiful! We took the Sheep Creek Canyon Geological loop. The Northern section is a lot flatter, drier and less impressive. Would definitely recommend seeing the Flaming Gorge.

We drove the area from Green river to the dam. The scenery was really something to see. The sheep Creek Canyon Geological Loop is a must see. We spent a lot of time stopping to explore and take pictures. Then we went up to the Dowd Mountain Overlook for lunch. We had the place to ourselves and the scenery was really wonderful. Then we continued on to Red Canyon for a walk along the top and got some more great pictures. The dam was okay but not the highlight on the trip. I can highly recommend this drive to others,
