Excellent hike on the cathedral trail. Crowds weren't as big as on the trails of the scenic drive. Still enjoyed very large Redwoods. Visitors center was nice. Ranger was helpful and restrooms were clean. Parking was also plentiful. Starting from the Visitor Center, we hiked a loop trail and saw the Big Tree. Along the way we saw so many wild flowers besides the gigantic Coast Redwoods. It was cool in the woods. A very pleasant hike indeed. I wish I could visit the area again. This state park is as spectacular as Redwoods National Park itself. Herds of Roosevelt elk. Stunning forests, including formidable redwood groves. Stately "Big Tree". Great coastal and ocean views. But the highlight of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is Fern Canyon, a must-do hike that starts on the ocean coast and follows a verdant fern covered ravine. Memorable scenery.
