It's no wonder that this place is called the Smithsonian of the West. This attraction borders on the phenomenal. There are outdoor and indoor attractions for everybody- military, pioneer, Native American, toys, law enforcement, and more. The museum interior has great displays, including a World War II memorabilia section that is about as good as you will ever see. There is a comprehensive display of military and civilian firearms. This is a place where you can just about pick the subject and they will have a display that covers it. The surrounding buildings (41 in all) depict early Montana stores and municipal facilities. There is also an outstanding collection of military vehicles. It would take at least a full day to see and absorb everything.
